Today I am reviewing Tiramisu Bistro’s Eggs Benedetto. The Tiramisu bistro is a neat little restaurant on 124th street. I have regularly had good meals here. On Sunday the 2nd, I decided to give their version of eggs benedict a try. Their version has a croissant instead of an english muffin, prosciutto instead of ham, and little spicy havarti added for good measure. As I have said, I am a tough marker and a picky eater, so this dish might appeal more to other people. My mother and I both ordered the same thing (though she asked for mozzarella instead of the havarti.) It was perfectly reasonable. The eggs and the meat dazzled. Both were excellent. The spicy havarti gave it something unique. I was not however blown away by the croissant. It seemed like too much bread and as far as croissants go, it was not my favourite.
The Eggs – 5/5
The eggs were done perfectly and were a nice bright orange. I don’t think I could have asked for more on this front.
The Meat – 4.5/5
The prosciutto was delicious. I would have liked a pinch more, but that might be a bit nit picky.
The Bread – 3/5
I was not wowed by the croissant. I wanted to like it, but it just did not work for me.
The Hollandaise – 3/5
The hollandaise was generous, but only a little better than middle of the road.
Special Considerations – 3/5
The plating was a little dull and only came with 2 slices of cantaloupe and 2 slices of orange. I usually expect more on this front. I liked the havarti addition. it gave the dish a nice flavour.
