So, I am going to start on what should be a high note. The Upper Crust cafe has been my go to eggs benedict in the city for a long time. They have to date been the gold standard. The service at the Upper Crust is hit and miss. On my most recent visit, they ran out of hollandaise sauce, but decided to serve me what they had left. Considering I had brought a friend to show off their eggs benny, I was disappointed to say the least. The eggs were also a little runnier than normal. I will have to decide later if I am ok giving send chances and re-reviewing because I would normally have given them a 4.5/5 which my friends and family will quickly tell people is uncommon for me. So here is the breakdown.
The Eggs – 3.5/5
The eggs were a little runny this time, but nice and orange.
The Meat – 4.5/5
The meat was delicious, thick cut and well proportioned.
The Bread – 4.5/5
Crisp until the last bite and in balance with the size off egg and amount of meat.
The Hollandaise – 3.5/5
lacking in quantity, but not flavour. This sauce is by far the richest and creamiest hollandaise sauce I have had to date.
Special Considerations – 4/5
The potatoes were delicious and there was plenty of fruit with the meal. The food was nicely plated and had been broiled briefly giving it a little something extra.
